ABOUT ME

Hi and thanks for visiting!

I’m an independent Melbourne-based singer, songwriter and recording artist. I played in a number of Melbourne indie bands, including Thirteen at Midnight (not to be confused with a UK band that coincidentally had the same name!)

Since early 2020, I’ve been busy writing, recording and releasing songs that have (much to my delight) been attracting global attention and critical acclaim.

Once described as ‘thoughtful, alternative pop’, my songs delve into thoughts and feelings often left unexplored in this genre.

Incidentally, I used to also be a music journalist, and was Features Editor on Australia’s premier national rock music magazine Juke for more than five years, which was lots of fun.

I also have a very friendly studio companion called Bella, who features at the top of this page and is my No.1 fan (especially when I have treats).

If you’d like to say hi, please use the contact form at the bottom of this page or hit me up on the socials. Thanks for visiting and listening. x

LATEST SINGLE - OUT NOW!

What if all the good things that happened to you in the past weren’t a product of a kind and thoughtful world, but simply the result of good fortune? I wrote this song during 2021 in a moment of profound melancholy and self-reflection. And while that might sound sad, I’m pretty sure the feelings expressed in the lyrics will resonate with you on some level, hopefully providing some comfort and reassurance that it’s ok to feel sad sometimes – and that you’re not alone.

TOGETHER

My first ever international collaboration, I co-wrote and recorded this song with Brazil’s Reynaldo Costa during the 2021 lockdowns in our respective home cities of Melbourne and Rio de Janeiro. After chatting on Twitter, we realised we had many of the same feelings – of missing our friends, live music and some sense ‘normality’ – and so we decided to make a song about it. After many late-night conversations and emailed recordings, the result was ‘Together’.

SIGNS OF LIFE

If you’ve ever taken a beautiful partner for granted or split-up with someone and regretted it later, this song is likely to resonate.

SAFE FROM HOME

Recorded during the first wave of Coronavirus in Melbourne, this song explores the topic of domestic violence, centring on someone seeking respite from a difficult home environment. Engineered and mixed by Carl Polke, it features backing vocals by Ryan Webb.

UNHAPPY ACCIDENT

Opening with the lines "I'm just someone on the spectrum, with a plectrum", this song combines existential crisis with tongue-in-cheek accusation, while taking a journey through the mixed-up thoughts of an over-thinking pseudo nihilist (possibly a close personal friend of mine).

SET ME FREE

The media constantly bombards us with messages about who’s hot, what’s not and who we should be. When it all gets too much, it’s likely you’ll want to wish it all away and find your own path. That’s how I felt when I wrote this song.

PROTEST SONG

An upbeat, low-fi rollick combining the sounds of 60s activism with some straight-out sarcasm, this toon features former Circus Oz members Ania Reynolds (Synthotronica) on hammond organ and Chris Lewis on drums & percussion.

IN YOUR EYES

Have you ever had the feeling that someone you love is falling out of love with you? That’s what this song is about. The sad sentiment is juxtaposed with an upbeat pop sensibility, catchy melodies & lush harmonies.

BE BRAVE

Written and recorded during in 2021, this ‘big ballad’ is an uplifting call to show resilience and courage in the face of life’s greatest disappointments and challenges.
